Celebrating a Milestone in Children’s Public Health: Over 13,500 Pupils Screened Across Dorset
The Children and Young People’s Public Health Service in Dorset has reached a significant milestone, screening more than 13,500 Reception and Year 6 pupils during the current screening year using SchoolScreener.
Commissioned by the Public Health teams across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council and Dorset Council, the service has continued its commitment to ensuring children receive timely health assessments and access to appropriate support when needed.
Supporting Early Identification and Better Outcomes
School health screening plays a vital role in identifying potential health concerns early, helping children and families access the right care at the right time. Reaching over 13,500 pupils means thousands of children have benefited from a process designed to support their wellbeing, development and long-term health outcomes.
The achievement highlights the dedication of school nursing teams, public health professionals and schools working together to deliver an effective and accessible screening programme across the region.
Improving Accessibility for Families
The introduction of SchoolScreener has helped streamline the delivery of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP), making it easier for families to access results and follow-up support while ensuring accurate and efficient service delivery.
Hanna New, Thrive and Achieve Professional Lead for the Children and Young People’s Public Health Service 0–19, said:
“We are thrilled to have streamlined our NCMP delivery and increased accessibility to results and follow-up support for parents and carers, with the help of SchoolScreener to ensure safe and accurate delivery of care.
The team have worked incredibly hard to reach all schools in a time-effective manner whilst making the sessions engaging and efficient for the children and school staff.”
A Partnership Making a Difference
This milestone represents more than a number. It reflects a shared commitment to improving health outcomes for children and young people across Dorset through early intervention, strong partnerships and innovative digital tools.
We are incredibly proud to support the Children and Young People’s Public Health Service in Dorset and congratulate everyone involved in reaching this fantastic achievement.
As the programme continues, we look forward to supporting even more children, families and healthcare teams through efficient, accessible and effective school health screening.
