The good news is that you can now find all SchoolScreener® software services on the Government’s Digital Marketplace procurement platform. The less good news is that they seem to have made it harder to find anything on there, so this post is to provide you with direct links to all of the correct sections of it. As ever, we’re here to help!
What are Digital Marketplace and G-Cloud 13?
G-Cloud is a framework where supplier cloud-based solutions are made available through a front-end catalogue called the Digital Marketplace. The Digital Marketplace is an online service for public sector organisations to find people and technology for their digital projects. Suppliers must apply to sell their digital services. Before being admitted, they’re thoroughly checked and vetted for suitability.
Any public sector organisation, including agencies and arm’s length bodies, can buy using the Digital Marketplace and the framework agreements within it. This makes the purchasing process easier and faster and ensures a degree of standardisation across government. Importantly, it reduces the cost of acquisition of software. Also, it enables closer working in the pre-purchase process than would be possible under traditional tender arrangements. Check with your procurement department, they’re probably already registered as buyers.
It’s managed by CCS (Crown Commercial Service). CCS is an executive agency of the Cabinet Office. Their role is to improve the public sector’s commercial and procurement activity.
The framework was first open in 2012 and is now in its 13th iteration: G-Cloud 13.
